As my good friends know, I am one who loves to stay active. I just got some comments tonight at the gym, “Do you always eat the right things? You’re pretty lean. I know women who would die for how you look.” What great comments to get from someone! But can I do better than I am doing? Oh, yeah. I was hidden underneath my workout clothes! And I am just like everyone else. I love chocolate, M&Ms, Cheetos, hamburgers and hotdogs, my favorite being french fries.
But now as I am closing in on the upper 30s, I’ve realised that it’s going to take more than just exercise to keep the problem areas in check. The eating has got to get better. I can feel my skin changing, becoming thinner, not having the tone like my 20s. I can feel more aches and pains in my joints. I have a lower back that will give me severe problems if I don’t continually stretch my hip flexors and glutes. My left ankle continues to be sore after exercise due to a sprain from about eight months ago.
So what has this all left me with? I have made up my mind to tighten up and become more health conscious. That means continually hydrating myself, staying away from the diet drinks, limiting my intake of caffeine, small meals — at least six a day — which I am pretty good at the portion control — and more fruits and vegetables, less processed foods. This is going to be fun. I am determine to turn my body into the fat burning machine it was meant to be.
So I am going to leave you with my workout this evening: Group strength training at Gold’s Gym, 45 mins; came home to do a workout on-line of plie jump squats, 30 reps; tapping pushups, 26 reps; deep walking lunges, 30 reps; V-ups, 25 reps; get-ups and high knees, 30 reps; leg lifts, 25 reps; mountain climber 60 reps; triceps dips, 25 reps; skaters jump lunges, 30 reps; knee assisted one-arm pushups, 26 reps.
